Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup instant grits
- Halal salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 1/4 pounds medium shrimp, peeled and tails removed (tail whole)
- 2 large garlic cloves, chopped
- Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
- Juice 1/2 lemon, add pieces to serve
- 2 tbsp coarsely chopped fresh parsley
Steps to Process American Lemon-Garlic Shrimp and Grits Recipe:
- Bring three cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan over high heat, covered. Uncover and stir gently in grits, 1 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp black pepper. Reduce heat to medium and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 5 minutes. Add parmesan and 1 tbsp butter. Remove from heat and season with salt and black pepper. Cover to keep warm.
- Meanwhile, season the prawns with salt and black pepper. Melt the remaining 2 tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add prawns, garlic, and cayenne pepper, if using, and cook, stirring, until prawns are pink, 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from heat and add 2 tbsp water, lemon juice, and parsley; Stir to coat shrimp with sauce and season with salt and black pepper.
- For grits between shallow bowls and sprinkle with shrimp and sauce. Serve with lemon wedges.
