Dalgano - Dutch Food | This cake adapted from Dutch cuisine always makes me miss it. This sponge cake or sponge cake with a blend of spices and a sprinkling of sliced almonds tastes legit with a fragrant aroma of spices. Became a mandatory breakfast menu when going to start activities. Ontbijtkoek has a dry texture because it does not use fat (margarine, butter, and oil) at all in the manufacturing process.
Spices such as cloves, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg are mandatory spices that must be included in the Ontbijtkoek dough. Initially, ontbijtkoek was only served at breakfast. Now, Ontbijtkoek is actually served as an afternoon or evening snack.
Because of its dry texture, ancient people enjoyed this cake as a filling for white bread. One slice of ontbijtkoek was spread with thick butter and flanked by two slices of white bread. If you want to know other typical Dutch foods, you can see the recipe Dutch Snack Hutspot
