Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 1/4 cups (312.5 ml) warm milk
  • 2 cups (115 g) butter, softened
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 6 3/4 (415 g) to 4 1/4 cups (470 g) all-purpose flour
  • Sesame or poppy seeds, optional


How To Make  Begel Sweet:

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and warm milk. Add butter, sugar, salt and egg yolks, mix well. Stir in flour, stirring until it forms a soft dough.
  2. Knead dough until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl. Cover and leave in a warm place until doubled in size. Leave it for about 1 hour.
  3. Deflate the rising dough. Shape into 12 balls. Punch a hole in the center of each dough ball with your thumb. Stretch and shape the dough until it forms an even ring.
  4. Place on a floured surface. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Flatten the bagel slightly.
  5. Fill the Dutch Oven with two thirds of water, bring to a boil. Place the bagels, two at a time, in the boiling water.
