high-quality fresh sausage is the key to delicious Australian sausage rolls. The unique blend of Jimmy Dean's special seasoning Premium Pork Sausage makes it the perfect sausage for this recipe. It feels good! This is the only sausage I use in this recipe. Ingredients
- 16 oz Jimmy Dean Premium Pork Sausage (1 package)
- 1 pack frozen puff pastry
- 3/4 cup Italian breadcrumbs
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- salt and pepper to taste
- To wash eggs:
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon water
How to Make Australian Sausage Rolls
- Be sure to follow the directions on the finished puff pastry package
- Your dough is properly thawed and ready to use.
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
- Open the dough onto a lightly floured surface. You should have 2 large squares. Cut each square in half to make 4 rectangles.
- Place Jimmy Dean Premium Pork Sausage, Bread Clam, Milk, Garlic, Paprika, Salt, and Pepper in a large bowl or food processor and stir until all ingredients are well combined.
- Divide the sausage dough evenly into 4 parts and make a long tube under each rectangular cake (see image below).
- Roll the cake over the Jimmy Dean Premium Pork Sausage and glue it together. Cut each roll into 4 pieces.
- Place the portions on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a baking sheet.
- Mix the eggs and brush each roll with the beaten egg. Then sprinkle some paprika (see image below).
- Bake at 425 for only 5 minutes. Then reduce the heat to 350 and bake for another 30-35 minutes. Drain excess from the pan partially through baking time.
- the rolls should be golden in color and the sausages inside should be perfectly cooked.
- Remove from pan to a few paper towels to cool.
- It is traditionally eaten plain or dipped in tomato sauce. They're also delicious dipped in barbecue sauce, marinara, alfredo sauce, country sauce, and cheese sauce.
