Korean Dumpling (Mandu)
Dalgano - Recipes Korean Mandoo (or Mandu) is a symbol of good luck when it is prepared as part of Korean New Year celebrations. These Korean dumplings can be added to beef broth or anchovy broth for a dish called manduguk and can be served with tteok manuguk, a traditional cylindrical rice cake. This Korean dumpling recipe is made with ground beef or pork, but you'll notice that it's either made with chicken or just vegetables. You can pre-create them and freeze them for future use.

Ingredients
- 1 pound lean beef or pork
- 1 medium onion then finely chopped
- 1 cup finely chopped cabbage (about 1/2 of a small head of cabbage) then boiled first
- 1/2 cup chopped tofu (1 small cake)
- 4 ounces of mung bean noodles soaked in hot water 15 minutes (or cooked sweet potato noodles) then chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic then finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 pack (40) wraps of round mandoo or Japanese gyoza or packs of Chinese dumplings
- Dumpling sauce as an accompaniment
How To Make Mandu
- Gather the ingredients.
- In a large bowl, gently mix ground beef or ground pork, onion, cabbage, tofu, and noodles.
- Combine garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
- Pour the seasoning mixture over the meat and vegetables and stir by hand until combined.
- Place about 1 tablespoon of the filling in the center of the dumpling wrapper.
- Dip your finger in the water and wet half of the wrapper.
- Fold the wrap in half, press to close, and then crease the edges. repeat until the ingredients run out.
- You can steam, boil, fry, or saute the dumplings as desired.
- Serve with basic sauce or hot sauce.
