Pineapple Pepper
Dalgano - since childhood in Aceh, they often eat this very fresh fruit dish, usually found at certain very special events such as wedding receptions.
Ingredients:
- 600 gr pineapple, cut
- 6 curly red chilies, split
- 4 cloves of red onion, sliced
- 8 grains of deaf / star anise
- 6 cm cinnamon
- 8 grains of cardamom
- 10 cloves
- 2 teaspoons cumin (my addition)
- 4 bay leaves (I skipped)
- 400 gr sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 liters of water
How to make
- Prepare the ingredients, wash the pineapple pieces
- Heat a frying pan, add sugar until brown and caramelize. Add water.
- Add sliced onion, deaf, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, salt, and cumin. Add pineapple chunks, mix well. Cook until boiling. Add red chili.
- Pacri Nenas typical of Aceh is ready to be served either warm or cold as a dessert or a fresh afternoon snack.
